OpenStack Events

Join James Page and Mark Baker for a tour of the outer limits of current OpenStack capabilities. You’ll learn how to build a highly resilient network and infrastructure in your OpenStack cloud, how to maximise performance and how to scale OpenStack using Juju. Watch Webinar On-Demand

Want to learn even more about OpenStack? The Ubuntu OpenStack Fundamentals Training course is an intensive 3-day, hands-on classroom-based course of lectures and lab work taking place in London, Baltimore, and Vancouver. Created by the experts in our Cloud Engineering team the training is designed to be the best introduction for setting up and running Ubuntu OpenStack clouds.

Finally, our OpenStack Roadshow continues in April with visits to four European cities. Mark Shuttleworth along with experts from Canonical’s OpenStack team will present their roadmap and exchange views with cloud architects on enterprise private cloud requirements. The tour will include events in London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt and continue on into Asia in late spring. It is open to those shaping private cloud strategies, so why not come along?

Summits & Conferences

Join us at WHD.global 2015 this week if you are attending. WHD.global 2015, to be held on the 24th – 26th March, promises to be as popular and diverse as ever. The event organisers expect over 6,000 vendors, service providers and software developers making it one of the premier cloud and hosting events in Europe. This year, members of the Ubuntu team will be present at both the Atomia and StackVelocity booths talking about Juju, OpenStack and BootStack, our managed cloud service.

While at the Open Compute Summit, we demonstrated the Microsoft Windows being deployed with MAAS (Metal as a Service)! Using OCP-compliant hardware we were able to deploy mixed Ubuntu and Windows solutions demonstrating the value of automation across the data centre. The aim? To make cloud OS deployment quick and easy for enterprises and telecoms companies. See it in action in the video below.

Partner ecosystem news

In February, Juniper and Canonical announced an expansion of our global partnership with a co-developed carrier-grade, OpenStack software solution. Earlier in March, in conjunction with the Open Compute Project Summit in San Jose, we announced QCT (Quanta Cloud Technology) as a member of our Cloud Partner Programme and the release of a set of reference architectures for combining QCT’s Open Compute Project-compliant hardware with the Canonical Distribution of Ubuntu OpenStack.

Another recent addition to our cloud partner programme is Fairbanks, bringing strong OpenStack skills and selling our OpenStack solutions in the Benelux region (Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg).

We are also pleased to announce the addition of Codership to the OpenStack Interoperability Lab, plus Datastax and Appscale – newest additions to the Charm Partner Programme.

Mobile World Congress

Finally, we had an exciting cloud presence this year at MWC showcasing SDN, NFV, Big data and OpenStack demos tailored for Telcos and Service Providers. See a recap here.
